Fairy tales, happy endings
Rags-to-riches stories by the dozen
Have gifted me with unrealistic desires
Which when not realised, I stand frozen.
'Luck' is a word I've seldom understood
Except when I'm praying it changes my fortune
The Midas' Touch-I've never understood
Except when I think of the joys and misery it's brought.
As for Alchemy,
Please help me
Find a way
To turn misfortune into glee
I've never appreciated the talents I had
Even though I knew they were considerable
Simple joys and contented smiles
Are almost extinct nowadays-I never see them.
Until..One day
I took an early morning stroll
The gentle breeze
Acting as a fragrant control
The nascent blue skies have just woken
To the fact that the moon is long gone
The chirps of the morning birds
Reminders that a new day is born
I look up as I realise I'm
Under the rainbow
That kisses the wondrous land
On its one cheek and the other
Under the rainbow..
I stand mesmerized
Happy and content
I stand energised
Under the rainbow..
I dont go search for the pot of gold
But gaze heavenward
And wonder about the lesson nature's told
Under the rainbow..
I find a smile lit in my face
And happiness filling my heart
Simple yet important emotions.
Under the rainbow..
I feel I'm set free
From the dungeon
I've thrown myself into
Under the rainbow
Which slowly fades away
And leaves way for the rain
To commence its display
I'm happy and smiling
Wondering about the simple joys
Which have undergone a renaissance
Thanks to being Under the Rainbow.

Lilyrose.....I thought you were off to places untold to collect material for the William series???
instead here you are, admiring rainbows!
my browser dont show no picture.....do you perhaps mean the picture drawn by your verse???
because it does do that, your poem, rather well!
when all earth rejoices, why not us mortals too??
loved these lines
That kisses the wondrous land
On its one cheek and the other
