CHAPTER 10:
The day after the party, is a very tedious one for us all.I submit my written review(carefully omitting anything to do with s-n-e-e-z-i-n-g), Ari submits her paper,William plays his recording to us...and he's done a great job.
Except that Marianne seems to be the person on present almost all the time in the video.
"I didnt have a choice ...she just barged in to every frame " William winked at me.
You can see me, a couple of times too...mostly talking with Ari and Kate or looking disgusted with Gerald.
And...we've already got a new project to complete...a documentary.They say 5 in a group to do a documentary and I'm so glad that William,Ari,Kate,Alex and I are in one team....ok..I'm more than glad actually.
We saunter into the canteen and discuss things over french fries, corn fritters, bagels and diet coke.
Which is when it occurs to me and I ask William "Why are you a vegetarian?"
"Oh..well..lets just say it's a sort of moral inclination.."
"Right...so you love animals?"
"Nah..I dont LOVE animals..but I surely cant EAT them" he smiles.
"Oh..yeah.."I grin.
"Ahem guys...if we can discuss about topics for the documentary?" Ari interrupts , with a wicked i'm-not-letting-you-talk-with-him grin...oh..wait till I get hold of you Ari!
"How about Celebrities?''Alex grins.
"Yeah...why not?We could interview Brad Pitt and do a photo session with James Marsden" Ari says excitedly.
"Yeah...and end up as gossip columnists?" Kate asks kinda disgusted.
"Hey...what's wrong in interviewing Celebs?" Alex asks.
"Nothing wrong..except that they're not the easiest people to get hold of" William points out."And I dont wanna do a papparazzi act" he adds.
"Yeah...then who's easy to get hold of? The univ's security guard???" Ari snarls.
"Hey...how about NO famous interviews..??" I ask meekly.
"Yeah...how about just viewing amazing places and speaking about them?" Kate says.
"That's a great idea...we could do a "NYC-The Place,The People,The Life" docu." William says.
Man-how does he do it? That's a great headline.....which he comes up with in a second...and if I were to have done it, I would have been racking my brains for hours...and still come up with a bad one.
"Yeah..awesome." I smile.
And we all agree to this idea...and we've got a month's time to get it done.
With my part-time receptionist job and this ...Phew! Am I gonna be busy!
I walk around the Univ's basketball grounds..when my cell starts ringing...
"Sri Uncle calling" it says.
Oh-oh...maybe Sandra's told him about how bad a worker I am, and he wants to talk to me to about it...Bother!
I pick up the phone.."Hi" I say..
"Hello Ananya...I want you to come to my place for the weekend...it's a family get-together" I hear him say.
Thats deadly..that is..."Family get-togethers" is another way of saying " competition to show-off".And nobody does it better than my Uncle.
I try to think of an excuse as I say " Oh..Uncle...really?".
Which is when William comes up to me...apparently after a game of basketball..because he's sweating..and his straight black hair is wet ...he looks great you know...and raises his eyebrow enquiringly as he sees me on the phone.
"Uncle" I mouth to him and tell in the phone" Oh..uncle ..I've got a documentary to work for this weekend..I'm not sure if I'll make it.."-Lie no. 1
William gives me a "Really?" look
"Oh come on Ananya...your mom wanted you to be here" uncle says.
Oh..well..if Mom wants me to go, I better...but...oh please!!!
"Oh..but...you see, the Univ is very strict about submission of assignments and all that..."- Lie no.2
"What nonsense ?? Ananya...you're coming...and that's final " he slams the phone.
"Argh!!!" I swear..
"What was that?...and why were you lieing like you could never lie again?" William grins..
"Oh..please.." I begin and I tell him about the horrid weekend in store for me.
"Well..lets all go for a movie tomorrow..and have some fun before your doomsday" he smiles.
WOW! He said "Lets all"..not "Lets"..but it's still a start!!!
"Yeah..sure...how about 21?" I ask.
"Kate Bosworth and Jim Sturgess ha?...sure..i'll book it." he smiles.
And he walks me to my dorm, talking about Kate Bosworth's films, his game of basketball and plans for the documentary.
I say " Bye" to him as I walk into the dorm.
"Yeah...we'll talk later '' he says and gives me another million-dollar smile as he walks off....
