ADDICTED TO BOOKS! *ALERT* *GREAT DANGER*-Dont tell me I havent warned you!!

It was 5 years ago...................

When my mom decided that if i was gonna buy books to read, we'd end up bankrupt in no time.Of course...she couldnt tell it to me just like that...no,that would have been suicidal. So, she tells me she has a great friend who owns a library and wants me to check it out.

So...proud that my opinion regarding her collection of books has been asked, I saunter into the library...and walk straight into the trap brilliantly conceived by Ethan Hunt (MI)alias Mom....and I bet, even Houdini would have found it difficult to get away from that one...

Finally, I realised Mom knew nobody there and had you know tricked me into this master-plan.

I was... needless to say..FURIOUS!I refused to borrow books for a long time...but no books at all ,meant that I was getting desperate by the minute..you know..to a bookworm..books are like steroids..once you get addicted ,there's no way to get out of it..

So..I give up.I surrender valiantly..(?)..and I borrow books.

What's the big deal?? you ask..oh, then you dont know the luxury of owning a book, calling a copy of a classic your own, writing your book reviews in the final pages of the book, arranging your favourite books in the shelves and keeping a favourite one near the pillow for bed-time reading...I still miss owning loads of books....

But, the biggest victims of this 'me-stopping-buying-books-and-starting-to-borrow-them' are the poor library staff.I snarl at them ,when the book I want has already been taken.

And now, I've completed whole sections in the library and so..not many more books to read...so.."Is that all you have??" I growl at the poor guy, who meekly surrenders.

You see ,I read books depending on the mood.

I'm down , dull and my life seems extremely boring...I pick Agatha Christie, and quench my thirst with her mysteries.

I'm feeling kinda romantic, I pick Meg Cabot.

I'm in the mood for serious thrillers I go with Jeffrey Archer and John Grisham.

I've had a bad day and want to unwind, I pick Harry Potter.

I watch some British movie and start admiring the accent and the gentlemen,...i pick up British classics...you see, it's the closest I could get to Jude Law.

And sometimes, I love reading biographies of the Kennedys..I am fascinated by them and The 'Kennedy Curse'.

And sometimes , usually after watching The History Channel or Discovery, I love reading history books...William Dalrymple and Dominigue Lapierre are my favourites.

And at times, when I am embarassed at all the soft reading I've been doing I pick up Booker Winning Books...because you see, most of them are impossible to read with interest...so it's a huge challenge, for me atleast. *YAWN*

So..I am indeed a tough master to satisfy..as far as books go..and trust me, you're lucky you're not the Library staff.

If they were to write a blog about me I'm sure it would be something titled "Monster" or "She Who Must Not Be Named"-they are scared of me ,you see.

I drive my mother to heights of exasperation, that you would have scarcely imagined possible.

All...for the love of books...*Humph* , I can hear my Mom saying.

I'd better be off now, I have "The Pelican Brief" waiting for me , looking inviting on the soft pillow and the flowy white bed-spreads..

Finally, to sum it all,
"Bookworms are a quaint species with an insatiable appetite for the written word."

I agree a 100%..dont you?;)
