Oh yes-in today's  society,as regards to the hep and trendy of the next-gen,there are some unwritten rules to fit in.No-the rules arent all bad or anything-it's just that it is opinionated-to me it may sound over-the-top and to you ,perfectly normal-or vice-versa.All of the rules below are drawn out of my experiences with some of the 'trendy' folks in town.Well, here you go:

1.Use words like dude, dudette, kewl(not cool),ciao,babes,baby,chick-very frequently. The more you use the words, the trendier you get.

2.Knowledge of popular news is very essential-no,it doesnt matter if you dont know who won this year's Pulitzer(Gene Weingarten from the Washington Post),as long as you know that Jennifer Aniston's dating John Mayer.

3.An in-depth knowledge of Current 'Affairs' makes you very 'chic'-and yes knowing the latest Brad-Angie ,Abhi-Ash,Prince William-Kate Middleton gossip helps too-and keeping an eye on Britney,Lindsay and Paris Hilton-WOW!You're the coolest person around!!!

4.You SHOULD have watched F.R.I.E.N.D.S!!! If you are able to watch Grey's Anatomy,Ugly Betty,Desperate Housewives,American Idol-even better!

5.Orkut,Myspace,Facebook,Hi5-you need to be in atleast 2 of these.

6.Please know(,if not own)brands-Gucci,Prada,Louis Vuitton,Armani,Jimmy Choo,Manolo Blahnik-and drop these names in conversations. For example:"Seriously, look at the fuss she's making about her new stilletto-it's not like she's bought a Jimmy Choo one"

7.It's absolutely essential to have read The Da Vinci Code,The Harry Potter Series and The Devil Wears Prada-not just because you love to read, but because these books are 'popular'-and make a fashion statement in itself!

8."Pls mesg b4 5,k?n gr8 2 no u likd de car"-this is how you're messages need to be.Don't use proper English-it's just NOT cool-short forms are better-I personally can't stand it!!! I bet you anything,Prof.Higgins would be turning in his grave!!

9.From "What's up?" to "Wazup?" to "Sup?"-English is ruthlessly massacred, and that is considered 'kewl'.Though I think,it's the Americans who started this! Prof.Higgins remarks about the usage of English in 'My Fair Lady'-

"The Scotch and the Irish leave you close to tears.
There even are places where English completely
disappears
. In America, they haven't used it for years!"

10.Mocha,Barista,Coffee Day,Subway,Pizza Hut-these should be among your favourite spots to eat-out...though you can't always admit, your mom's crisp dosa is  the best!

I WILL KEEP UPDATING IT!!!I'M PRETTY SURE THERE ARE LOADS TO COME!!!
